Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate X% of Y?

Multiply Y by X and divide by 100. 15% of 2,400 = 2,400 × 15 ÷ 100 = 360.

How do I find what percent A is of B?

Divide A by B and multiply by 100. 45 of 60 = 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75%.

Why doesn't +10% then −10% return the same number?

The second percentage applies to a different base: 100 + 10% = 110, and 110 − 10% = 99.
